Important
An online estimate is indicative only. The final trade value is confirmed after physical inspection and listening tests at our Murarrie premises.
Basic eligibility
- Speakers are traded toward speakers.
- The replacement speakers' recommended retail price must be at least 2.5 times the original recommended retail price of the speakers being traded.
- The speaker brand must still be operating so specifications and support can be reasonably checked.
- Both speakers, drivers and connection hardware must be safe and operating as intended unless we agree otherwise before assessment.
- Products with major enclosure damage, non-functioning drivers or obsolete technology may not qualify.
Age-based maximum values
Subject to inspection and the other criteria on this page, the maximum indicative value is based on the speakers' original purchase price.
- Less than three years old: up to 75% of the original purchase price.
- Three to seven years old: up to 65% of the original purchase price.
- More than seven years old: up to 50% of the original purchase price.
How the final value is assessed
The age-based figure is a maximum, not a guaranteed offer. We assess finish and cabinet condition, driver performance, included accessories and grilles, original packaging, proof of purchase and any transferable warranty.
- No original packaging: an indicative 5% reduction.
- Missing manuals or accessories: an indicative 5% reduction.
- Scratches or marked outer finish: an indicative 5% reduction.
- Dents or damage to the enclosure: an indicative 10% reduction.
- No proof of purchase: an indicative 20% reduction, with value assessed against the model's average recommended retail price over its lifespan.
How to start
- Send the brand, model, finish, purchase date, original price and your location.
- Include clear photos of every side, drivers, terminals, grilles, serial labels, accessories, packaging and any wear.
- Tell us about repairs, replacement drivers, cabinet work or performance issues.
- We will give an initial indication before you bring the speakers to Murarrie for inspection and listening tests.
- If accepted, the confirmed credit is applied to the agreed speaker purchase.
Freight and access
Speaker freight may be significant, especially when moving from bookshelf speakers to floorstanders or when either address is remote. We will disclose known freight costs before finalising the transaction.
If you send speakers and choose not to proceed after assessment, return freight and suitable protective packaging are your responsibility unless we agree otherwise or the law requires a different outcome.
Offers and acceptance
We may decline speakers where authenticity, ownership, condition, demand, safety or resale suitability cannot be established. An estimate does not bind either party until inspection is complete and the final transaction is accepted in writing.
