The Rega DAC-R is a dedicated high-performance digital-to-analog converter designed by Rega to bring a natural, musical character to digital audio sources. Built as an evolution of the original Rega DAC, the DAC-R refines the design with improved power supplies, upgraded USB implementation, and enhanced noise isolation across all inputs.

At its core, the DAC-R uses dual Wolfson WM8742 DAC chips, working in a carefully engineered parallel configuration to reduce distortion and improve signal accuracy. It supports high-resolution audio up to 24-bit / 192 kHz across USB, coaxial, and optical inputs, making it compatible with modern digital transports, CD players, and streaming devices.

A key design feature is Rega’s focus on timing and jitter reduction. The DAC-R employs isolated digital receiver stages and a stable clock system to minimise timing errors, helping preserve rhythmic integrity and musical flow.
